Millie had watched all the other challengers attempts up until today. I never figured her to be the competitive type, but
she seemed to take this challenge quite seriously. On the other hand, it struck me as odd that she got in at a rather moderate speed
rather than trying to cross as quickly as possible. She calmly put one foot in front of the other and did not get deterred
until she was knee-deep in the sticky stuff.
Millie in the Little Pit of Doom
Then she leaned forward and plunged her hands into the quicksand, pulling herself forward, twisting those legs. With seemingly
little effort but steady and calm motions she kept moving forward rather than getting completely stuck. The edge was getting closer
but when Millie sank past her butt, her progress seemed to come to a halt. Her arms dug deeper into the quicksand and she was still
able to move, but now she was obviously actually straining herself to do so. Millie continued her struggles until she was
waist-deep in the pit. Then the solid ground was eventually within reach and she began to slowly pull herself out of the sucking
sand. So here we have another successful challenger. And I am kind of relieved that someone from the staff made it and kind of saved
the honor of my team.
