Tom and Amy Watch a Movie

Like the title says, they watch a movie. That’s pretty much it. Sounds boring, right? Even though the movie is very short (merely 6:26), Tom does not get to see it in its entirety at first. Amy begins to … uhm… do things that distract him. He puts the video on repeat. Maybe that way he will get to see all of it despite his girlfriend grabbing his attention. Among other things. Oh, and they have turned off most of the lights so you cannot really see all that much. At least the TV screen is bright. Now that I think about it, this gallery was a bad idea in the first place. There really is not all that much to see there. So maybe just DON’T look at it. Pretend it does not even exist! ;)

Let’s move on to something more interesting instead: the movie. If you have been around on Deviant Art, you may have already seen Viridian’s creation there. It is titled “A Day in the Life of Shetani”. You can watch it over at dA or you can watch/download it here. SPOILER ALERT: If you have not already, you should probably go and see it now before you read the next paragraph.

This is a short AI generated movie which shows Amy and Tom in trouble at the Northern Peat bogs. They did go there intentionally to get down and dirty, but the video starts when it is already time for them to leave the bog. After some failed attempts of Amy to escape from it by herself, Shetani arrives to try and rescue them. And if you are wondering, like Tom does at the end, why the jungle girl is naked, there is a bit more to that. The title “A Day in the Life of Shetani” is taken from a larger project idea. If I ever get to actually do that project, it will show all sorts of things that keep Shetani busy from morning till night. I just wanted to let you know that there is actually a reason why she is passing by completely naked. For the details about how this video came to be, you would have to ask Viridian. All I did was provide a simple script and some reference images of character faces. Now I am not a big fan of AI generated content in general, but in this case I was really impressed by the result. It came out really well. There is a good amount of suspense to be found, and a pretty good laugh at the end. The struggling motions, how the bog’s surface moves along with those, the textures, how the look of all the characters transferred over. There is a lot to appreciate about this video. Though I am probably a bit biased because it features my own OCs in a TGS setting. :D Now I could go on and talk about things that could still be improved. It is no secret that AI generated videos are far from perfect. But I think if I pointed out those shortcomings to you, it would only serve to diminish your viewing experience. So instead I want to conclude this with a Big Thank You to Viridian! Thanks for putting time and money into this project and allowing me to share the result on my site!
